In Matthew 6 Jesus teaches his disciples how (not what) to pray. His method helps us understand whose we are. Calling God holy reminds us that we are his creation, placed on earth to worship and enjoy him forever. Asking that his kingdom come and will be done reminds us of our part as instruments of his redemption on earth. Requesting daily bread and the forgiveness of sins points to our need for physical and spiritual food. Asking for freedom from temptation and Satan reminds us that without God we are the devil’s quarry. --Bill Strom, "The Anchored Self", p. 7I hope this gives you food for thought today.

The Lord's Prayer
